The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent Government Authority responsible for the planning and integrated management of the water resources of the Murray-Darling Basin.

The NRI Unit is seeking an experienced person to assist the unit undertake its above responsibilities. The NRI officer will be an active participant in the NRI Unit’s strategic role in developing the Authority’s spatial information infrastructure, with a specific emphasis on computer programming activities to support the development of online mapping components and customised applications. They will also be involved in operational activities of the Unit such as responding to internal stakeholder requests for data, maps and NRI support.

The main Geographic Information System (GIS) software used within the Authority is ESRI’s suite of products.

Duties include:

•Contribute to the delivery of the core outputs of the NRI Unit as required.

•Develop and implement computer programming solutions to support the development of the Authority’s spatial information infrastructure, online mapping components and customised spatial software applications.

•Deliver software programming solutions to support the Authority’s natural resource information requirements and strategic objectives.

•Develop and manage programming methods and procedures under direction.

•Participate in the development, evaluation and implementation of Natural Resource Information projects.

•Provide communication and administrative support to assist delivery of the above functions.

•Prepare technical reports and scientific papers.

•Keep abreast of developments in technology and software programming.
