The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent Government Authority responsible for the planning and integrated management of the water resources of the Murray-Darling Basin.
The NRI Unit is seeking an experienced person to assist the unit undertake its above responsibilities. The NRI officer will be an active participant in the NRI Unit’s role of providing spatial data analysis, cartographic and mapping services and GIS technical support to the Authority’s projects. They will also contribute to the development, evaluation and implementation of Natural Resource Information Projects, and maintain the Authority’s spatial data layers.
Duties include:
•Provide support to the Authority and its stakeholders by responding to requests for spatial science support (e.g. GIS, spatial data analysis, remote sensing analysis and mapping), and for locating and obtaining spatial data.
•Contribute to the delivery of the core outputs of the NRI Unit as required.
•Work with Authority staff to develop and maintain Natural Resource Information management systems.
•Assist in implementing new procedures and standards for the acquisition, storage, display and analysis of the Authority’s natural resources data.
•Provide communication and administrative support to assist delivery of the above functions.
•Prepare technical reports and scientific papers.
