or to those who hold valid working visas or permitsOur South Eastern Melbourne Client has the need for an experienced GIS Application Support officer for a six month contract starting late November / early December.
The Role:
The role of GIS Application Support officer is to assist in the maintenance of the clients GIS by providing support to staff, ensuring systems are stable and functional and assist in the planning of future systems. The major accountability of the role is assisting with the administration support of the Corporate GIS.
Key Responsibilities:
To assist in the maintenance of the Corporate GIS and provide a high level of support to staff. This involves:
• Assist with system administration tasks including fortnightly downloads of VicMap Digital Data and analysis of that data;
• Assist with internal staff ad hoc requests for maps and other GIS data;
• Ensure that updates to DSE and internal departments of address, property and planning data are actioned in a timely manner;
• Provide training for systems to enhance the skills and knowledge of staff, thereby improving their productivity and efficiency;
• Assist with the provision of customer focused technical application support to staff.
Person Specification:
Expertise required for the position of GIS Application Support officer. The position requires the incumbent to be able to assist in the Corporate GIS. The incumbent will be able to demonstrated the ability to:
• Exercise technical competence in GIS administration;
• Maintain and develop GIS;
• Manage competing demands and determine the most effective priorities for the allocation of resources;
• Intermediate to advanced use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access and a good understanding of how databases operate and interact;
• Intermediate experience with MapInfo and experience with VicMap Products is essential.
Qualifications
The position requires the following qualification:
• Tertiary qualifications in GIS, computer science or related discipline is desirable and/or at least 3 years relevant experience.
Knowledge
The position requires professional knowledge in the following areas
• Systems Administration;
• GIS specifically experience with MapInfo Products;
• VicMap Digital Data principles;
• SQL ability to prepare clear concise reports and correspondence.
