The Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research is a government agency responsible for investigating patterns and trends in crime and the criminal justice system.
The Spatial Analyst is responsible for:
- Developing, updating, improving and managing the Bureau's spatial database of recorded criminal incidents.
- Analysing, interpreting and preparing reports and maps on spatial characteristics of crime
Selection Criteria:
- Degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, planning, computer science or related field;
- Extensive experience in computerised mapping using Geographic Information Systems such as MapInfo or ArcGIS;
- Experience in conducting high-level spatial analyses and ability to apply this knowledge to the field of crime mapping;
- Ability to write technical and research reports to a standard suitable for publication;
- Excellent technical, analytical and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy;
- High-level liaison skills and oral communication skills;
- Experience in the use of data management software, such as SAS, SPSS or EXCEL and the ability to work with large datasets.
Additional Information
Salary: from $80,608.00 AUD up to $88,058.00 AUD per year
